Orange Regional Medical Center has built a 621,000 sf replacement facility in the town of Wallkill, NY.  It is the first replacement hospital built in New York in 25 years. Shen Milsom & Wilke provided technology consulting services including: Technology Master Planning, Information Technology Infrastructure and Systems, Physical Security Systems, Audiovisual and Relocation Services.

Shen Milsom & Wilke was involved with facility planning as well as extensive coordination between the Architects and MEP engineers. SM&W designed a mission critical data center and coordinated the implementation of a new Electronic Health Record system.

SM&W worked with ORMC’s CIO and networking team to develop the converged IP networking solution. This mission critical transport system transports normal IP traffic, as well as video, intelligent Building Management Systems and Security systems. SM&W designed and bid the systems, ultimately selecting a network integration partner that would connect the facilities 4800 network devices. Typical devices include security access control, video surveillance and Infant protection systems, an integrated VoIP and nurse call system including hands-free wireless badges, desktop computing (VDI thin clients), public and private WiFi access, transcription and dictation services, as well as, IP Video distribution systems.

Shen Milson & Wilke lead the implementation teams on all the IT system integration projects including, but not limited to:  Epic Electronic Health Record implementation, Vocera integration, Tempsys RFID-based temperature monitoring system, GE telemetry systems, Telehealth TIGR video distribution system, and hospital-wide patient entertainment and staff training systems. The integration of these systems was a key component of the success of this project. Bringing this facility to life and enabling the staff to perform more efficiently, while providing patients and staff with the latest technologies and amenities in a healing environment, was the prime objective of ORMC’s CIO.
