Shen Milsom & Wilke designed the center’s converged IT network, which supports multimedia, security, building management systems, building automation systems, wireless, and other IT-based services. This convergence means disparate systems become unified under a single operational umbrella, allowing greater flexibility and management. It also means the Las Vegas Convention Center can reduce staffing requirements. There are cost savings; converged networks use fewer materials in a more compact space.
Security design started with a vulnerability assessment to define assets and risks. A full security master plan provided the Las Vegas Convention Center with a comprehensive view of security needs and associated countermeasures.
