Shen Milsom & Wilke (SM&W) provided acoustical and medical equipment planning and consulting expertise to the Northwell Health Rego Park Cancer Center. The 70,000 SF area consists of radiation oncology, medical oncology, infusion, orthopedics, women’s health and imaging. The building is 11 stories high with a rooftop mechanical penthouse and a parking garage.
SM&W acoustical services were needed due to the building being located on a busy roadway with a subway train beneath. Medical equipment can be sensitive to vibrations, therefore noise and vibration reduction were needed. Medical systems included were MRI’s, an X-ray, mammography and ultrasound rooms as well as offices and exam rooms with required support spaces.
