Shen Milsom & Wilke (SM&W) provided full-time onsite Technology Project Management Services for the Nemours Pennsylvania Malvern Specialty Center, a 43,000 SF project with a $35 million budget. Joining the project about one-third of the way through the construction phase, SM&W concentrated on identifying and addressing process inefficiencies that were impacting progress. The project encountered significant challenges, including high turnover among key personnel and aggressive timelines, along with frequent last-minute change requests.
To improve workflow and collaboration, SM&W introduced cloud-based task management solutions alongside optimizing team meetings with tools like MS Teams and ServiceNow. These changes were critical in enhancing transparency and ensuring that all team members could work together effectively despite the challenges.
In addition to process improvements, SM&W actively took on tasks typically assigned to others to help keep the project on track, such as designing behavioral health observation systems. This hands-on approach, combined with streamlined processes, was vital in managing the aggressive timelines and navigating the complex dynamics of the project team, ultimately contributing to the successful completion of the project.
