SM&W Contribution

Following the overwhelming success of the Zucker School of Medicine on the Hofstra Campus in Hempstead Long Island, the Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing is set to move into Hofstra’s new 75,000 SF Science and Innovation Center.  The center will serve as the home of not only the School of Nursing, but also the DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science. The facility was designed and built to meet specifications to achieve LEED Silver certification status. At the center, students will have access to labs and simulation facilities that feature the most advanced technology.

Working in collaboration with the architect’s design team, Shen Milsom & Wilke (SM&W) provided the acoustics, audiovisual, IT Infrastructure, security, and medical simulation consulting services. The building incorporates a robust & highly flexible IT Infrastructure that encourages adaptable re-configuration for future changes in study programs. Advanced classroom Technology systems promote learning experience and collaboration. The School of Nursing includes an advanced Medical Simulation center with study capabilities for Anesthesia, Cardiac Perfusion & patient care in new Clinical Skills Labs within the school.
