Fortune 500 company DaVita Inc., a leading provider of care for those diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, relocated its new headquarters from California to downtown Denver’s Union Station District. The new facility accommodates up to 900 employees and was certified LEED Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council.
In addition to offices, the nine-story building included a 400-person ballroom that doubles as a town hall assembly space, gallery and exhibit areas, a penthouse-level kitchen and dining areas. The building also serves as the site for DaVita University, where thousands of the company’s staff train annually.
Shen Milsom & Wilke provided acoustical recommendations and a review of the core-and-shell design in order to cultivate acoustic environments for all spaces. We also provided vibration isolation of mechanical, plumbing, electrical and elevator equipment as well as sound and vibration attenuation through walls and other enclosing assemblies.
To alleviate the structure-borne noise and vibration from the adjacent railroad and light rail into office spaces, we conducted acoustical testing and observations. Based on these results, we provided in-depth recommendations for the room volume and shaping and interior acoustical finishes.
