SM&W Celebrates Launch of the FUJIFILM House of Photography
- Jan 02, 2020
Located in the heart of London’s Covent Garden, the new FUJIFILM House of Photography has officially opened its doors as a premiere experiential and cultural destination for photographers of all shapes and sizes. Spread across three floors, the 700Sqm House of Photography showcases all that FUJIFILM has to offer, from picture taking to picture making. The immersive photography facility includes a GFX specialist area, gallery and exhibition space, instant photography playground and Wonder Photo Shop to get creative with photo printing.
SM&W was selected as the specialist AV and Information Technology consultant for this project by Landmark Building and Property Services. Our mandate was to deliver cohesive and collaborative designs on a tight timeline with a very specific brief. Understanding that the FUJIFILM House of Photography was the first of it’s kind only reinforced how special this project was. Mark Solesbury from Fujifilm commented “working with the team at SM&W made this project great. Nothing was too much trouble and the attention to detail was exceptional. The business was able to adjust our requirements which SM&W reacted to in a professional way and delivered perfectly.”
The photography hub required a high-end fitout to match the iconic location with massive curb appeal. The goal for our design services was to deliver an immersive sound system covering the expanse of each floor and information technology infrastructure design services. Aesthetics were key for our AV team, as we designed 8 individual, yet combinable, zones of audio along with a robust wireless microphone solution that blanketed all floors. The overall quality of audio output was also paramount to the project, which SM&W satisfied through a sound system comprised of QSC loudspeakers, subs and head end to deliver the brief set by Fujifilm and a Shure QLXD wireless microphone system. Our information technology team delivered the structured cabling solution supporting the LAN, EPOC, CCTV, Wi-Fi and Video Displays through the Experience Centre.
SM&W was honored to receive an exclusive invitation to explore the photography playground ahead of doors opening to the public due to our involvement on the innovative project. During the VIP Launch event, all who attended enjoyed a rich and immersive audio experience throughout the experience center; with many people commenting on the clarity, power and coverage of the system. Peter Panayi, Director of Landmark Building and Property Services, said “We knew we could rely on Ben Lang of SM&W to provide the professionalism, due diligence and expert knowledge we would need to deliver an exceptional outcome for our client. He did not disappoint.”
The FUJIFILM Experience Centre officially opened its doors to the public on the Tuesday 3 December 2019. SM&W London is extremely proud of the systems we have designed and help implement for the FUJIFILM House of Photography and would like to thank CDEC and The Cabling Group for their excellent installation work throughout to make our designs a reality.
