SM&W Contribution
Shen Milsom & Wilke is currently working with Hord Coplan Macht on the design of a new senior living facility in Hilltop. The 202-unit senior community is situated on a 4.5-acre site, and will encompass high end assisted and independent living with memory care services. SM&W is providing acoustics, audiovisual, information technology infrastructure and phsyical security design services for the facility. Key spaces for the facility include dining rooms, specialty bistros, outdoor spaces, fitness spaces, a PT area, and a full aquatics center equipped with lap pool, therapy pool, spa, and reverse-current resistance walking pool.
SM&W’s acoustics design aims to achieve appropriate sound isolation between the facility’s varying space types, as the amenity spaces are adjacent to living areas for accessibility reasons. Acoustical finishes are incorporated into the overall design in strategic locations to increase speech intelligibility for occupants with hearing issues while complementing the interior aesthetics. Our audiovisual designs include all necessary infrastructure and equipment for common spaces, healthcare areas, and residential suites. Systems included control systems, monitors, speakers, input locations, and any processing required to achieve the owner’s desired system design.
In order to meet the stringent needs of both the back of house operations and residential suites, SM&W provided the design of all intrabuilding fiber, and copper to support all daily operating requirements. Because the residential areas were required to operate in a mutually exclusive capacity, each unit was designed with a separate access panel to allow for individualization. Systems supported include wireless access, audiovisual, Voice-over-IP phones, and life safety systems.
SM&W also provided design of card access control systems, video management systems, and a building-wide nurse call system.
