Shen Milsom & Wilke provided acoustical, audiovisual, information technology and physical security consulting services for the world’s leading institution of photography and visual art; the International Center of Photography (ICP). Teamed with Gensler, SM&W was tasked with leveraging flexible and scalable technology designs and infrastructure for both sides of the facility, museum and school, to support the ICP’s spirit of photography, art, community and inclusion.
Our integrated technology team concentrated on the systems and infrastructure to support the library, digital media labs, digitally equipped classrooms, darkrooms, and a divisible shooting studio. Additionally, the Center features various galleries, a bookshop, café, and multiple event spaces.
The dual-height gallery space, complete with ambient lighting, a beautiful glass façade, and projectors for digital art exhibits, is full of flexible infrastructure, supporting the numerous exhibition and floor reconfigurations required throughout the year. Technology was placed thoughtfully and strategically throughout the facility, to support these flexible layouts. These systems can be adjusted from the main control system without having to physically move or adjust devices.
