Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s new West Harrison location opened the center’s cancer treatment services to the New York City suburbs. MSK Westchester includes comprehensive ambulatory oncology services as well as features designed to detect, diagnose, treat and support cancer patients: medical, neurologic and radiation oncology; diagnostic radiology; surgical oncology consultations; dermatology (including Mohs surgery); genetic counseling; high-risk cancer screening and surveillance; survivorship programs; and social work, nutrition and other supportive amenities.
Shen Milsom & Wilke medical equipment planners worked with the design team and MSKCC to coordinate and install all imaging technology: interventional radiology, computed tomography (CT), positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography and ultrasound. A CT simulator and two state-of-the-art linear accelerators map and deliver intensity-modulated and image-guided radiation therapy. This leading-edge technology enhances precision while reducing radiation exposure to healthy tissue.
Disease-focused care teams, who know and understand the concerns of cancer patients and their families, deliver chemotherapy infusion in a compassionate environment. Within the 26 private and two acute infusion rooms, we worked with the design team to conceal treatment equipment from the patient’s view upon entry. Support spaces surrounding the infusion bays can be accessed by staff and family members.
