SM&W Contribution
Orange Regional Medical Center is the first replacement hospital in New York in more than 25 years. Shen Milsom & Wilke joined the team during the planning stage. We provided extensive coordination between the architect and engineers, designed a mission-critical data center and implemented a new electronic health record system.
The audiovisual scope included the boardroom, divisible classrooms and conference rooms, a dining room and a computer training laboratory. Our information technology team developed a converged Internet-protocol-networking solution that transports normal IP traffic, video, intelligent building management systems and security systems. The IT systems design fosters a healing environment where staff can perform more efficiently using an electronic health record system, communication applications, an RFID-based temperature monitoring system, telemetry systems, an interactive patient education video distribution system, hospital-wide patient entertainment and staff training.
Our unique approach to healthcare information technology created an open communication channel between wireless communication devices, patient monitoring systems and nurse call systems. The ability to receive alerts on their wireless devices allowed the nursing staff to tend to a patient without losing contact with other patients.
The security scope included specialized ambulance bays to shield patients from the weather. We coordinated the radio systems and bay doors, enabling automatic occupancy sensors and door controls.
