SM&W Contribution
Shen Milsom & Wilke provided audiovisual and IT infrastructure consulting expertise for this new world-class performing arts venue and top music school. The Tianjin Juilliard School consists of four faceted pavilions that house a 690-seat concert hall, a 299-seat recital hall, a 225-seat black box theater, as well as administrative, faculty, and rehearsal programs.
For this project, technology was crucial to teaching and learning as well as performance and recording support. SM&W seamlessly engineered the network transport to fulfill the school’s and the venue’s operation requirements.
Installing state-of-the-art AV and IT technologies into a world-class acoustics music performance venue is no small feat. The technology was designed to stay out of sight in the limited installation space behind the acoustics provisions. SM&W worked with the acoustics consultant, Jaffe Holden, on this project to make the best of both worlds a reality: very quiet acoustics background (NC15) and all the AV and IT connectivity provisions that today’s performance venues and higher education facilities demand.
Global coordination was key in this project. SM&W’s New York office worked on design phases while SM&W’s Hong Kong office helped to complete the design and lead construction administration.
