SM&W Contribution
SM&W provided acoustics, audiovisual, IT infrastructure, and IT systems consulting services for Victoria Dockside in Hong Kong. Sitting on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, Victoria Dockside was a major remodel and redevelopment of the former New World Centre, aiming for sustainability and microclimate positivity.
SM&W was initially engaged to be the base building acoustical consultant for the redevelopment project, which includes a 66-story skyscraper (900-ft) to house Grade A office floors and two 5-star hotel/service apartment (to be run by Rosewood, a New World Hospitality company). This project also included a big multi-block retail podium featuring premium shopping and an indoor “art installation” and themed entertainment for families.
Once the base building construction began, SM&W was invited to work as the AV and IT consultant team for the hotel and retail portions respectively. Because the client has a very technology-focused retail arm, our AV and IT design involved much more than typical technology infrastructure, basic mall background music, and digital signage. SM&W worked with both the end user and their software vendors to ensure their big data sensor locations are adequately and appropriately connected and the overall network transport fully supports both the landlord’s and tenants’ POS and smart retail applications.
